Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among the perceived oral
health, oral health promotion and dental impact of daily living in adults.
The study was performed period between July 1 and December 1, 1998 in other to
examine status perceived oral health, oral health promotion behavior and dental impact
of daily living.
The data consisted of random sample of 2,394 individuals whose ages (1,190 males and
1,194 females) were between 20 and 59. The data were analyzed using SAS version
6.04. The analytic methods for the study were t-test and correlation analysis.
The results of the study were as follows :
1. There were significant positive relationships between sociodemographical factor and
perceived oral health and between sociodemographical and oral health promotion
behavior.
2. In case of positive respondents' of perceived oral health status, there was significant
positive relation ships of their dental impact of daily living.
3. The higher the oral health promotion was, the higher dental impact of daily living
was. And the more the oral health promotion behavior was, the higher the perceived
oral health status was, and the higher dental impact of daily living was.
